We also offer shochu that pairs well with soba.

Hello! I'm the PR representative for Naniwa Soba Shinsaibashi Main Store, the original home of soba shabu.
It’s a bit late, but to everyone reading this blog, Happy New Year!
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all our customers for their support last year.
We look forward to your continued support of Soba Shabu Sohonke Naniwa Soba Shinsaibashi Main Store this year as well.
Well, in this first blog post of the year, I’d like to introduce the shochu we carry at our store.
∞∞━━ A Selection of Shochu That Pairs Well with Soba ━━∞∞
Please enjoy it alongside our signature soba.
◆ Kanehachi: 780 yen per glass (barley shochu)
"Kanehachi" is often referred to as the "phantom barley shochu" due to its toasty aroma and deep, rich flavor, which set it apart from traditional barley shochu. Its aroma is strongly toasty, reminiscent of barley chocolate. It has a sweet aroma, and its flavor is smooth with a soft, rich body.
◇ Manzen: 780 yen per glass (sweet potato shochu)
"Manzen" is brewed using Kawachi NK black koji. It is characterized by the bitter richness and sweet aftertaste unique to black koji, as well as the nutty aroma and fluffy, starchy flavor of sweet potato that result from distillation in wooden barrels.
◆Gen'an: 400 yen per glass (buckwheat shochu)
A crisp, light flavor. This authentic buckwheat shochu is characterized by the subtle, fresh aroma of buckwheat.
Just as there’s a way to drink shochu called “shochu with soba broth,” shochu and soba go very well together.
Needless to say, buckwheat shochu pairs perfectly with buckwheat noodles, but
Barley shochu also has a crisp, smooth flavor with no harsh aftertaste, which complements the flavor of the soba noodles, and
Sweet potato shochu has a refreshing taste, so it pairs wonderfully with dishes like tempura soba.
What did you think of our introduction to shochu?
At our restaurant, we serve soba noodles made from whole buckwheat grains that we grind ourselves using a stone mill—freshly ground, freshly made, and freshly boiled.
Please enjoy our meticulously crafted soba and shochu to your heart’s content.
A 1-minute walk from Shinsaibashi Station.
We sincerely look forward to welcoming you to our store.
